Barry is a fully qualified Cabinet maker, having studied for 4 years at Shrewsbury Tech while an apprentice at Laurel Bank Oak Furniture. This course covered both Cabinet Making and the Theory and History of Furniture-making.
All our bespoke furniture and cabinet-making is undertaken using only traditional methods and materials. For example, Barry uses only quality solid timber, kiln-dried after being sawn.
Traditional jointing methods are used – all dovetails on drawers are cut by hand and not machined or routed, as Barry is not trying to compete with large manufacturers, but rather keeping up the tradition and quality of hand-crafted quality craftsmanship.
This all contributes to keeping the tradition of small industries in rural areas alive.
