Oak Panelled Door Shropshire

A recent project undertaken by Shropshire joiners, The Spinney Joinery, was to replace an Original Oak Panelled Door dating back to 1790. The door is at Eaton Grange, Eaton upon Tern, Market Drayton, Shropshire.

The replacement Oak Panelled door was made using the same traditional joinery methods as the original. It was made from Quarter Sawn Oak.

Eaton Grange is an imposing detached country house which itself dates back to 1776.  It retains many original features including  large sash windows, panelled oak doors and a beautiful oak staircase.

Conservation Project at Elms Farm, Ollerton, Shropshire

Barry was asked to on-site conservation joinery to comply with Conservation Officers request on a Grade II Listed Building at Elms Farm, Ollerton, Shropshire.

The work comprised making and installing doors and windows to architects design and specification. The windows and doors were approximately 6 inches in depth and made using European oak.

The conservation work comprised replacing original oak timbers which had decayed to the point where they were not structurally stable. These were removed and new Green oak timbers were jointed into the existing oak frame. Where the damage was only superficial new timber was spliced in to retain as much of the original structure as possible.
